The formula is what makes Zolamay so unique because of the unprecedented range of proven precursor hormones, nutrients, and extracts.  This is their story:

DHEA: It is considered the "Mother" of all hormones. It has a significant contribution to the production of testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen. At about the age of 28, DHEA levels start to decline, and this loss of anabolic drive accelerates with advancing age. DHEA is the most abundant circulating hormone in the body, and influences more than 150 known anabolic (repair) functions throughout the body and brain. DHEA has also been shown to significantly elevate insulin growth factors (IGF) a critical factor in maintaining youthful resilience.

DHEA is a naturally occurring hormone that has a wide range of benefits, including maintaining muscle strength and strong bones, boosting immunity, and improving mood and sleep patterns. Further studies suggest that DHEA may be helpful for such conditions as obesity, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. DHEA dietary supplements, which have been on the market for over 20 years, are derived from a plant in the wild yam family.

The Benefits of DHEA: Improved DHEA levels have been correlated with improved sense of well being, reduce body fat and improve skin tone and moisture, increase sex drive, improve immunity, enhance memory, and increase bone density. Numerous studies have proven great correlations between DHEA deficiency or insufficiency and a variety of diseases and symptoms. For example, decreased levels of DHEA predispose human and animals to higher probability of breast cancer, autoimmune diseases, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer's diseases, etc. A study reported in the prestigious journal Science in August 2002 directly correlates increased blood DHEA level to longevity.

DHEA became credible to the medical establishment when the New York Academy of Sciences published a book entitled DHEA and Aging. This book provided scientific validation.

It has been shown that the hormone DHEA often declines 80-90% by age 70 or later, leading to hormonal imbalances that can affect one's quality of life. Peak blood levels of DHEA occur at approximately age 25, decreasing progressively thereafter. Thus, scientists have been looking at ways of restoring DHEA to youthful levels, and are now discovering mechanisms by which this hormone protects against age-related decline.

Since 1981, thousands of studies have been published on DHEA's possible benefits. One study investigated immune functions and DHEA using rats as test subjects. The scientists showed that DHEA administration to rats supports specific immune function known to be lacking in the elderly.1*

Another study focused on the various benefits of DHEA supplementation, and noted that DHEA's protective effect could be of benefit to the normal aging brain.2 Some studies have reported DHEA may improve mood and alleviate melancholy. In fact, as highlighted in two studies, participants have reported that they feel better when taking DHEA.3-4*

In still another investigative study doctors noted that DHEA is one factor that determines lumbar spine density in aging men.5 In women, it has been shown that DHEA helps to protect bone mineral density. DHEA's role in supporting a healthy circulatory system and joint/bone health was also highlighted in the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand.6*

The youthful ranges of DHEA are as follows (mcg/dL):

Men

400-560

Women

350-430

People over age 40, who do not supplement with DHEA, usually have serum levels below 200, and many are below 100.  This is the blood serum levels.  There are 25mg per capsule in ZolamayTM.  We typically recommend no more than 100mg of DHEA per day.  Typical users of Zolamay use 1-2 capsules daily with positive results.

New studies confirm the best time to take DHEA is first thing each morning; therefore, always take ZolamayTM first thing each morning.  Some formulas combine DHEA and Melatonin which should be taken late in the day because it might impair concentration and cause sleep.  Therefore, never mix DHEA and Melatonin at the same time.

Some people obtain a baseline DHEA-S blood test before beginning DHEA supplementation. However, based upon numerous DHEA blood tests evaluated by the Life Extension Foundation, anyone over 40 who does not supplement with DHEA is already deficient in serum DHEA.* Therefore it may be more economical to have the first DHEA blood test three to six weeks after initiating DHEA. There are precautions that should be observed that are different for men and women.

Men
Before attempting to restore DHEA to youthful levels, men should know their serum PSA (prostate specific antigen) level and have passed a digital rectal exam. Men with prostate cancer or severe benign prostate disease are advised to avoid DHEA since it can be converted into testosterone (and estrogen). Therefore, men are advised to have a PSA and digital rectal exam before initiating DHEA to rule out existing prostate disease.

When taking DHEA we also recommend taking the following other nutrients:

OxyAgeTM for it's antioxidant protection and either Med FactorTM for it's powerful nutrient support which includes L-Dopa for improved hormonal support.

It is important for men over 40 to consult their physician to check their PSA and DHEA-S serum levels every six to twelve months thereafter. Men should also periodically check their blood levels for free testosterone and estrogen to make sure that DHEA is following a youthful metabolic pathway.

Women

When taking DHEA we also recommend taking the following other nutrients to maintain

OxyAgeTM for it's antioxidant protection and either Med FactorTM for it's powerful nutrient support which includes L-Dopa for improved hormonal support.  Also women might want to consider Melatonin for it's hormonal benefits.

Women should consider estrogen and testosterone testing when they take their DHEA blood test in order to evaluate DHEA's effect on their blood levels of these hormones.

Women who have been diagnosed with an estrogen-dependent cancer should consult their physicians before beginning the DHEA restoration process.

Pregnenolone: Pregnenolone is the master hormone. All other sex hormones are derived from it, including DHEA. The body makes pregnenolone out of cholesterol, however our body's production of pregnenolone declines with age. It is the super hormone of the brain. Pregnenolone enhances our mental performance. Pregnenolone has been found to strengthen the myelin sheath membranes that are vital to the healthy functioning of our brains and nervous systems.

The Benefits of Pregnenolone: Taking pregnenolone has been found to improve memory, reduce stress and enhance DHEA levels.

According to Dr. Ray Sahelian MD, in his book, Pregnenolone: Nature's Feel-Good Hormone, he writes "I am 100 percent convinced that taking pregnenolone leads to changes in awareness and alertness. Referring to his own experience he writes "a mellow, steady, persistent feeling of well-being...had imperceptibly come on...Flowers seemed...brighter and prettier...my attention focused on the architecture of the homes...I started noticing the patterns of the stones, the shapes of the windows, doorways, porticos and other details...the palm trees...appeared Caribbean island-like picturesque. Everything seemed more beautiful and intriguing. I felt a sense of child wonder..."

15mg of Vinpocetine is a powerful potency strength of Vinpocetine; however, ZolamayT includes the stimulate capabilities of Vinpocetine and much more. It is  a complete therapeutic approach to sustaining a healthy hormone system -essential to improved mental and emotional functions.

Vinpocetine 15mg: Vinpocetine has been sold in Europe for years as a prescription drug because it is such a powerful powerful brain and memory enhancer. It has been referred to as the "Viagra" for the brain because it increases oxygen flow to the brain in much the same way "Viagra" does to the genitals. Vinpocetine enhances circulation and oxygenation to the brain cells, improves neural electrical conductivity and protects against neuron-destroying excitotoxicity.

The Benefits of Vinpocetine:It boost oxygen flow to the brain making you more alert and in control with improved brain and memory function. Vinpocetine improves blood flow, inhibiting a phosphodiesterase enzyme that degrades cyclic GMP to relax constricted arteries and smooth muscle. With Vinpoc-etine, cerebral microcirculation and metabolism improve and brain ATP (the cellular energy molecule) production increases along with the utilization of glucose (cellular energy food) and oxygen.

Vinpocetine is derived from vincamine, the major indole alkaloid of the periwinkle plant. No toxic effects have been seen from vinpocetine use at levels far above normal amounts.

When taken orally, vinpocetine can:

  • Improve blood supply to the brain.*
  • Increase oxygen and glucose use by the brain.*
  • Improve brain tolerance to hypoxic excitotoxicity.*
  • Increase vasodilation response to hypoxia.*
  • Maintain optimal energy of healthy brains.*
  • Maintain normal coagulation of blood.*

Adrenal Substance: Adrenal substance nourishes the adrenal glands which is located right above the kidneys. Proper functioning adrenals provide a crucial number of physiological functions including the energy necessary to perform strenuous or lengthy tasks, deal with emotional crisis, and fighting infection. It also includes regulation of blood sugar levels, stress adaptation, energy generation, stamina, and the normal functioning of the body's natural defense system. Our steroid hormones are responsible for producing progesterone. Exhausted adrenal function affects fatigue and even decreases hot flashes in menopausal women. Stiffness, chronic aching, water retention, and sleep disturbance improve with a healthy adrenal function.

A healthy adrenal gland utilizes DHEA and Pregnenolone. Aging and diseases associated with aging can cause a decline in critical hormones produced by the adrenal glands. Pregnenolone is converted into crucial antiaging hormones such as dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. DHEA supplementation may help to partly rectify hormone imbalances caused by age-induced adrenal insufficiency.

An article in the journal Clinical Endocrinology described a study of the effect of oral DHEA replacement therapy in women with Addison's disease (Gebre-Medhin et al. 2000). The researchers found that DHEA and DHEA-sulfate (DHEA-S) levels were restored to normal in those patients receiving 50 mg of DHEA, whereas the DHEA-S level was slightly above the normal reference value in those receiving 200 mg of DHEA. Circulating levels of androgens (androstenedione, testosterone, and testosterone/SHBG ratio) were normalized in all patients. No serious side effects were seen, but some of the patients experienced increased apocrine sweat secretion (apocrine glands are in the armpit, anal, genital, and breast areas and produce a strong odor), itchy scalp, and acne, all of which were reversed when DHEA was discontinued. The authors concluded that a daily replacement dose of 50 mg of DHEA results in near physiological levels of DHEA, DHEA-S, androstenedione, and testosterone in women with Addison's disease without severe side effects (Gebre-Medhin et al. 2000).

Another article described a randomized, double-blind study in which 39 patients with Addison's disease received 50 mg of oral DHEA daily for 12 weeks (Hunt et al. 2000). After DHEA treatment, levels of DHEA-S and delta- ( 4 ) -androstenedione rose from subnormal to within the adult physiological range. Total testosterone increased from subnormal to low normal with a fall in serum sex hormone-binding globulin in females, but with no change in either parameter in males. In both sexes, psychological assessment showed significant enhancement of self-esteem with a tendency for improved overall well-being. Mood and fatigue also improved significantly, with benefit being evident in the evenings. The authors concluded that DHEA replacement corrects this steroid deficiency effectively and improves some aspects of psychological function. These positive effects, in the absence of significant adverse events, suggest a role for DHEA replacement therapy in the treatment of Addison's disease. Studies suggest that low DHEA-S might be a prognostic marker and a sign of exhausted adrenal glands.

Even mild Addison's disease requires expert physician intervention and supervision. Glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid component drugs are prescribed for Addison's disease. Once cortisol levels are stabilized, the serum levels of DHEA should be evaluated to determine if DHEA replacement therapy is warranted. In the majority of cases, Addison's disease is caused by an autoimmune attack on the adrenal glands. DHEA has been shown to suppress inflammatory cytokines and thereby down - regulate autoimmune reactions in the body. In the past, infection, such as tuberculosis or meningitis, was the main cause.

Pituitary Substance: Pituitary substance nourishes the pituitary gland located at the base of the brain. This gland tells the other glands what to do and when to do it. It secretes hormones to the thyroid, testes, and ovaries -and triggers production of milk, eggs, and sperm. It also provides the hormone of hormones -Human Growth Hormone known as HGH which has been called the Fountain of Youth. A healthy pituitary gland strengthens lean muscle mass, decreases bad fat distribution, maintains libido, reduces the wrinkles, and helps with emotional stability.

As we grow older, we suffer major declines in the hormones we need to stay healthy. One of the most important is growth hormone (GH)-often called human growth hormone (HGH) to distinguish it from animal-derived products.

Growth hormone injections
The most effective way of boosting GH blood levels is regular injections. While the cost of synthetic GH injections for anti-aging purposes is very high, it is now available from various doctors in North America.

Amino acid GH releasers

For some years now, scientists have been exploring the ability of high doses of nutrients to restore GH to younger levels. It has been shown that while the aging pituitary adequately produces GH, its secretion from the pituitary is down-regulated with age. However, scientists have found that certain amino acids and vitamins can stimulate the natural release of GH from the pituitary in many people.  If you take OxyHGH Growth Factors in conjunction with the pituitary substance found in ZolamayTM, you will dramatically increase the percentage of stimulating HGH levels and enjoying the benefits of a health and activie pituitary gland.  The pituitary gland is the direct blood supply to your brain.  It is important to give the pituitary the nutrients required for healthy function.

Thymus Substance: Thymus Substance is a holistic natural substance which provides direct nourishment for the thymus gland. The thymus gland located right above your heart is vital for proper immune function. After puberty the size of the thymus gland decreases. Clinical evidence suggest taking thymus substance helps the thymus gland stimulate white cell and lymphocytes production which provides a mechanism for recognizing pathological organisms and providing the immune response.

The thymus is the primary gland of the lymphatic system located just beneath the breastbone. The thymus is largest-relative to body weight-at the age of two. The gland is at its absolute largest at puberty, and begins to rapidly shrivel and atrophy soon thereafter. By 40, the average person has only a small portion of his or her thymus still intact.

Thymic Immune Factors is a synergistic formula that contains a full complement of herbal activators in addition to fresh, healthy thymus, lymph and spleen tissues. The primary ingredient is tissue from the master organ of the system: the thymus gland. Also included is tissue from the lymph nodes and spleen, which produce white blood cells that fight invading organisms and mutagens under the instruction of the thymus gland.

Conclusion

What makes ZolamayTM so unique is this concentrated range of synergistic ingredients that work to restore youthful hormone levels.  While soy isoflavones and other ingredients such as Chrysin may be used to help encourage natural hormone levels -ZolamayTM is a more comprehensive solution that typical protocols sold.  The success rate of ZolamayTM is therefore substantially higher since it actual contains precursor hormones and substances essential to hormonal nutrition.
